Maccabi Haifa go into this game on the back of a 3-1 win over Hapoel Ramat Gan in the Israeli Ligat Al. Heravia Kovacevic gave Hapoel Ramat Gan the lead in the 17th minute, only for Eyal Golasa to equalise twelve minutes later. Vladmir Dvalishvili scored just before half time to put Maccabi 2-1 ahead.
